It's not common to see a woman at the forefront of the transport industry, but ParkBird's co-owner and partner, Pam Singh, decided in 2020 to do something about the poor conditions that truck drivers have when they are at work.
After many years in the transport industry, ParkBird's co-owner and partner Pam Singh felt that she had to do something regarding the great lack of safe and proper parking conditions for trucks. It's time to make a difference, and it has to be now, Pam thought:
“ParkBird is a big project - especially when we talk about resources. It requires the right team with correct competencies, that has the full insight and knowledge in the transport industry, which I have. My experience in the transport industry goes way back, which means that I have a good and large network that will support me in my daily work and desire to make a difference in the industry,” Pam says.
Passion for better conditions
ParkBird has developed an app that truck drivers can use when they need to find a safe and secure parking space in their route planning, so they avoid unnecessary detours and safe planning. In the same planning process, they avoid fines, theft and comply with their rest time rules. We want to create the framework so that the drivers are less pressured and more rested for their further journey.
“Whether it's a woman or a man who started ParkBird is irrelevant, I think, because it's about passion and the will to tackle a topic that has been talked about for many years, and do something about it. But perhaps there is a need for more women in this industry, when it comes to better safety for truck drivers. It might be a provocative thing to say, but perhaps it can be true,” Pam says.
Having the target group close by
Pam Singh er gift med en lastbilchauffør og har derfor indsigt i de problematikker, der ligger i en lastbilchaufførs arbejde. Det betyder meget for hende at gøre en forskel og få etableret sikkerhed omkring mennesket bag rattet. En indsats ingen har formået at lave endnu.
Pam er tidligere administrerende direktør og bestyrelsesmedlem i ABAX, som blandt andet leverer flådestyringssystemer. Nu sørger hun ikke blot for lastbilchaufførers sikkerhed men set i et større perspektiv alles sikkerhed. For når en lastbilchauffør er ordentligt udhvilet på vejene, er sikkerheden i top for alle.
More diversity in the entrepreneurial World
ParkBird has a total of 3 founders. Pam Singh, Allan Sønderskov Darré and Brian Tange.
Allan har underskrevet et Diversity Commitment, som blandt andet handler om, at der skal være flere kvinder i ledelsen i de startups, han er med til at grundlægge. ”Vi er stolte af at være en af de startups, der skaber mere diversitet i iværksættermiljøet, og vi håber, at diversitet bliver et nøgleord, når virksomheder grundlægges i fremtiden”.
Brian Tange kommer med en fortid som direktør i 3×34 og allerede her oplevede han efterspørgslen for ParkBirds løsning. Brian har en passion for at skabe verdens største og bedste parkeringsapp for lastbiler globalt. At hjælpe med at rykke branchen og lave et paradigme skifte i hvordan chauffører og vognmænd betragtes og behandles. ”Jeg ønsker at de får bedre vilkår og at de kan gå sikkert på arbejde hver dag”. siger Brian.
Brian asked Pam if she would contribute to the journey from the start, and saw that there was a need for a purposeful woman with bones in her nose and who knows the transportation industry internally. A woman who dares to take the lead and create the right team that can execute in the right direction in such a large and valuable project.
Entydigt for dem alle tre, er deres enorme erfaring med at benytte teknologi til at optimere forretninger globalt samt deres passion for at skabe en positiv ændring i branding.
